Manulife x Mind HK
Free In-Person Wellbeing Check-in
Manulife Fully Funds the New Wellbeing Consultation Hub for Face-to-Face Mental Health Consultation Service
Bringing More Accessible Mental Health Support to the Community
Manulife has always been committed to promoting mental health in the community and has established a Strategic Charity Partnership with Mind HK since 2024. This collaboration expands Mind HK’s free support network and resources, further enhancing mental health services within the local community.
To ensure that more people in need receive appropriate support, Manulife is enhancing Mind HK’s free Wellbeing Check-in service by introducing a new in-person service point in a prime city-centre location in Hong Kong. This new service point and its associated services will be fully funded by Manulife, facilitating evidence-based Wellbeing Check-in for more adults in need.
Mind HK’s low-intensity psychological intervention effectiveness assessment highlights the importance of ongoing mental health support services. Thus, we firmly believe that in-person mental health consultation not only helps build trust and a sense of safety, but also allows the Wellbeing Practitioners to observe our participants more comprehensively, enabling more thorough evaluations and support. This approach can lead to significantly better outcomes in mental health care.
The service, conducted by trained Wellbeing Practitioners, will offer 1-on-1, in-person consultations to help participants better understand their mental health conditions and needs. Each session will last approximately 45 minutes. After the assessment, the Wellbeing Practitioners will evaluate their situations and recommend low-intensity psychological intervention when appropriate, enabling them to take an important step toward improving their mental wellbeing.

Who is suitable for participating in this programme?
This programme welcomes Hong Kong residents between the ages of 18 and 65 who want to understand their own mental health conditions, or may be feeling lost or facing emotional difficulties.
Who is not eligible for this programme?
This programme is not suitable for individuals diagnosed with severe or complex mental health conditions, but suitable for those who experience mild to severe moderate anxiety, mild to moderate depression, or other emotional challenges. Our Wellbeing Practitioners are trained to support people who experience mild to moderate mental health difficulties primarily. Therefore, if you are currently experiencing a major setback or even having thoughts of suicide or self-harm, or you have been previously diagnosed with a more severe or complex mental health condition, please visit the “Find Help Now” page on our Mind HK’s website for immediate information and services.
What is the service process like?
You have to register by filling out the form. After signing up and completing the assessment, our Wellbeing Practitioner will contact you within 10 days to schedule a convenient time for a 45-minute in-person conversation if the service is suitable for your personal needs. During the in-person conversation, the Wellbeing Practitioner will understand your current situation and help you gain a better understanding of your emotional state based on the questionnaire you filled out during application. Additionally, they will provide recommendations for appropriate community resources based on your needs, helping you take an important first step in taking care of your mental health.
Will the content of this service be kept confidential?
Your conversations with the Wellbeing Practitioner are confidential. Any information about you will not be shared with anyone without your consent unless you or others are at immediate risk or the Wellbeing Practitioner has reason to believe that you may be in imminent danger.
Supervisors will monitor trainees’ development throughout the placement to ensure that they are meeting the required level of competency to pass the training course at the end of the placement.
How will we ensure the safety of this programme for you?
Before having the conversation, we will ask you to fill out a basic questionnaire for preliminary screening assessment. This screening process aims to ensure that the training received by the Wellbeing Practitioners is sufficient to meet the needs of the individuals receiving the service. If it is determined after the screening assessment that the service is not suitable for you, Mind HK will provide alternative recommendations to ensure your safety and support.
For adults who are suitable for this service, all Wellbeing Practitioners have received training on how to identify and respond to safety and risk issues. If you have any concerns about the support process, the Wellbeing Practitioners have appropriate measures in place and will develop response plans based on the urgency of the situation. They can also access support from clinical practitioners from Mind HK or participating organisations.
